Six teenagers were camped by a creek for overnight fishing and sat around a bonfire late in the evening. They heard footsteps approaching along the creek bed, noticed a strong unpleasant odor, and watched a very tall two-legged shadow circle their camp at a distance before continuing along the creek. They remained silent during the passing and did not search for tracks the next morning.

In 1977 two companions hunting frogs at a remote pond heard a roar and saw trees moving. One saw a large brown hairy form partly hidden behind a cedar tree and swaying. Both fled on foot while hearing heavy thuds, and one saw a large rock bouncing nearby. A few days later they returned and found a cleared limb bed and a limb torn from a mesquite tree, but no footprints due to rocky ground.

On a dark night in August 1977, the witness was walking back to hunting camp near two lakes when he stopped at a creek to find the trail. He heard a low growl, called out thinking it was companions, then heard a louder deeper growl/moan and vigorous thrashing and shaking of nearby bushes to his right. He jumped across the creek and ran to camp without seeing the source.
Lots of tracks found while fishing
Five people fishing in a remote creek area found about half a dozen very large footprints that appeared to be about a week old. The tracks ran from the creek across sandy soil toward rocky brush and were described as about 17 inches long and 10 inches wide. Casts were later made from the tracks and the find was reported in newspapers.

In August 1977 the witness was walking along Waterloo Road at night after missing a ride and trying to hitchhike. He heard something moving through the woods alongside the road that sounded bipedal and kept pace with him, running when he ran and walking when he walked, for about a mile. The night was very dark and he never saw the source, eventually getting a ride near houses.

The witness and two companions were on horseback to put up horses at night near a town dump and fairgrounds. They observed a black standing figure but could not see a face despite fairly good visibility from stars and lights. The next day they returned and found dry grass flattened where the figure had stood. The witness noted bears frequent the area but judged this was not a bear.

The witness was camped beside a creek during a Pacific Crest Trail thru-hike when he heard low voice-like sounds coming from opposite ridges. Feeling uneasy as he also heard limbs and sticks breaking on the ridgeline, he broke camp and hiked out by moonlight. The next morning at a side creek he found vegetation slid down and up where something had crossed, with one large clear footprint in a sandbar, which he photographed with his foot alongside for scale.

The witness and a companion were camping in a tent near a river. Late at night they heard loud screams and then footsteps on a dry creek bed behind the tent. The witness saw a large silhouette move past a tree toward the river, heard splashing and screaming, then footsteps approach the tent and run away. They waited for daylight and left quickly.

The witness reports that during the summer of 1977 something repeatedly came around the family home north of Dark Lake, disturbing a horse, splashing at the lake edge, and prompting nighttime pursuit with gunfire. Multiple family members, guests and neighbors reportedly heard sounds and caught glimpses over the summer, including a daylight sighting of a large reddish creature eating raspberries.

During a multi-day Boy Scout hiking trip through a remote canyon in 1977, the witness and companions found a single very large human-like bare footprint in mud beside the creek. They compared its size and depth to the witness's boot, estimated it was less than a day old, but found no other tracks, hair, or sign. The witness and a companion were in a canoe checking a trotline across the river after midnight while camping with their fathers. From about 30 feet away behind bank vegetation they heard two very loud, low-frequency vocalizations described as howls, grunts and growls that could be felt in the chest. They abandoned the trotline, paddled back and ran to camp, where both adults had been awakened by the sound. The group left the site the next morning and shortened the trip.

Three people driving on a forest road in the early afternoon came around a bend and saw a very large dark bipedal figure about 75 yards ahead walking toward them. The witness was home alone watching TV in a trailer when the dog began growling at the back door. The witness then saw a large shadow fill the back-door window and then the living-room windows before moving away. A faint skunk-like odor was also noticed. The witness stayed on the couch afraid until relatives returned home.

The witness and a companion heard a loud scream at night at their farm home but could see nothing in the dark. The next morning they followed footprints in the snow starting about 75 feet from the home on the west side of the garage toward the swamp. The prints were described as large bare human-like feet, and hair was found where the track-maker appeared to have leaned against a pine tree, which the witness collected.

In February 1977 five youths camped in two VW buses at a remote, densely forested campground in the Trinity Alps. On two consecutive nights around 10:30 p.m., something rushed down the steep hill behind camp and violently rocked the bus the witness slept in. The first morning packs were found strewn and torn open; the second night a large boulder was found wedged behind the bus tire and the other bus had shifted about five feet toward the river. The group reported seeing nothing because windows were iced over, noting only hillside skid marks, rushing noises, and a brief strong odor before leaving early.

The witness reports taking a break at a picnic area below a cabin after hiking back from another cabin. A creature was seen walking upright, with only the waist-up visible above brush. It is described as having long brown hair and piercing green eyes.
Man remembers a late night "camp-circling" along with several other young Marines outside of Albany
Three young Marines were sleeping at a creekside camp when one awoke to sounds of something large in the woods. All three then listened for an extended period as something heavy circled their camp across the creek with steady bipedal-sounding steps and breaking sticks while staying beyond the firelight. They built up the fire, stayed awake until dawn, then extinguished it and walked out, and afterward never stayed overnight there again.

The witness, accompanied by a relative and a companion, found a very large human-like footprint with additional smeared prints near a pond at the back of a rented farm property during the day. They also found remains of a duck that had been plucked and eaten nearby, felt watched, and noted the area was unusually quiet with frequent strange noises. The witness never saw a creature.

She heard the screen door open and shut, smelled a foul odor, heard heavy shuffling steps and breathing with a soft growl behind her bunk, and felt something large and furry trace her face. She next remembers waking on the floor, and the next morning a bunkmate said she had seen a big black hairy creature standing behind the witness.
