The witness was camping in a remote area near Yosemite, sleeping in a tent set apart from companions' tents. Very late at night while drifting toward sleep, the witness heard heavy footsteps moving around the tent and became frightened. The witness ran to a companion's tent; the companions reported hearing nothing, and the night was noted as unusually quiet with no crickets. No visual observation was made.

A resident went to the outhouse around 2 or 3 in the morning and heard something very large moving on two legs through dense brush toward him. The creature made deep guttural grunts that sounded aggressive and left the resident feeling severely threatened. The resident ran back to the house while hearing it follow below the trail.

The witness was camping overnight at an alpine lake with a dog when a loud high-pitched scream shifting to a low roar was heard for a couple minutes very close to camp. The dog became agitated with raised hackles and the witness was frightened. A young couple camped a few hundred yards away heard the same sound outside their site with snapping branches and pacing, and both parties left the lake the next morning.

The witness and two companions were camped by a remote lake after dusk when they noticed amber eyes in the woods up the hill. After rocks were thrown, the animal stood and moved toward them on two legs, then circled their camp for about three hours while staying outside the firelight. The witness described it as 7 to 8 feet tall, agile on two legs, and curious rather than aggressive, and it left after fuel thrown on the fire made a flare. No tracks or other sign were found the next morning.

In August 1984 four teenagers were camping overnight on a wooded ridge when they heard unexplained noises and their dogs became agitated. A very loud yell came from just behind their lean-to, which shook visibly, causing the group to flee through the dark woods. One teen briefly froze before following, later reporting grunting and footsteps behind him. The next day the group found the lean-to torn down, the fire pit rocks scattered, and a strong wet-dog-like odor at the site.

About a minute later they heard the same scream a second time. Frightened, they reeled in their lines and ran back to the nearby resort without stopping.

Two people hiking toward Franklin Falls heard three or four loud, high-pitched wailing screams echoing off the surrounding mountainsides. Despite extensive outdoor experience in Washington, neither recognized the sound and both were badly unnerved. They turned around, returned to their car and drove away, feeling watched on the way back.

The witness and two companions found large wide three-toed tracks in mud on a two-track trail near camp. They saw about seven clear steps spaced far apart on a slight downhill. They suspected a possible prank, and the tracks later washed away in rain.
Possible trash snatching (2 witnesses) outside Sherando
The witness and a companion were sleeping in their truck at a forest camp late at night when a large bipedal shape walked past and went to trash bags hung high in a tree. The shape reached up, carried one bag into the woods where tearing and eating sounds were heard, then returned about half an hour later to take a second bag. The pair remained in the truck, then packed up and left to spend the rest of the night elsewhere.

Three people were together in forested hills northwest of Yamhill late at night when they heard a very low, prolonged howl-like scream from what seemed like a mile away. Roughly thirty minutes later they heard the same sound again from very close range, describing strong vibrations and intense fear. They left immediately without seeing the source, which the reporter later came to believe was Bigfoot.

The witness was hiking with a dog on Dilworth Mountain in late afternoon when they found two side-by-side sets of large bare human-like footprints in melting snow. The dog eagerly followed the scent along the tracks into the trees, which alarmed the witness, who called the dog back and left quickly. The witness returned the next day to photograph the tracks but could not relocate them after rain.
