During the night they heard knocking, whooping, and footsteps around their tent, and something stepped on a companion's hand through the tent wall. Two of them looked outside but saw nothing, hearing only something heavy moving away quickly. Years later they interpreted the incident as a Bigfoot encounter.

They did not see the source, abandoned their tents to sleep in a vehicle, and remained frightened through the night.

They heard loud snapping and cracking of limbs across a valley and saw a large hairy back moving very fast uphill through brush, clearing foliage out of its way. Two people hiking a mountain trail in the morning reported seeing the back of a large black animal. They estimated its height from where its back had touched a tree branch. They also reported a wet-dog-like odor, a trail made by the animal, and a bed of leaves under cedar trees.

The witness was camping with family in a canyon. At night around the campfire they smelled a strong foul odor, the dogs barked toward the darkness, and loud guttural vocalizations came from just outside the firelight two or three times. After a few minutes the smell faded and the dogs calmed. The next morning they found smashed grass behind a boulder near the tent.

The witness reports that while cutting firewood with a relative on a saturated old road on a morning after overnight rain, they discovered a single large three-toed footprint. The print was described as about 14.5 inches long and nearly 5 inches wide and pressed about two inches deep. On a winter night in 1986-87 the witness was alone on his turn riding a three-wheeler through a snowy pasture near a wooded creek in Morgan County while a companion waited elsewhere. From about 30 yards away he watched a roughly 7-foot tall, dark-haired, roughly 400-lb figure walk across a narrow strip of pasture between two stands of woods. The figure looked toward him and then kept walking as if unconcerned.

Two people riding in a jeep to stock pig feeders and gather firewood noticed a very tall, dark-furred figure with no visible neck standing between two isolated pines about a hundred yards away. Its upper torso rose well above the tall grass and it filled much of the gap between the trees. When the witness glanced down and looked back a moment later the figure was gone, leaving both people badly frightened.

Three teenagers staying overnight at a wilderness cabin woke after 1 a.m. to see a head and broad shoulders silhouetted in a moonlit upstairs window, with lightly glowing orange-red eyes peering inside. The closest teen moved away, the figure dropped from view, and the group shut the shade and remained shaken. The family dog was unusually spooked and refused walks the next day.
