Camper has a possible afternoon sighting at USFS campground near the town of Strawberry
The witness was camping and sitting in shade at a developed campground when a fast-moving dark figure crossed the campground north to south about 125 yards away. The sighting lasted about three seconds and showed only the torso from the hips up, described as very thick and dark with a reddish tint, with little to no neck and a slight forward lean while running. The witness later inspected the path and reported crushed grass and a crushed fern along the suspected route toward thick timber.
Campers on Mount Graham experience possible intimidation behavior
The witness family was tent-camping at a site on Mt [name withheld]. Between 1 and 4 a.m., after the husband re-entered the tent, the witness and her daughter saw a tall thin figure walk quickly past the tent in the dark and heard slipper-like footsteps on the road. The witness later heard loud chewing and lip-smacking behind the tent and noticed an unfamiliar animal smell. The sounds lasted about 20 minutes and stopped without footsteps after a distant camper door was heard.
Camping family glimpses a grey animal twice in three days
The witness was camping with kids on Oak Creek in July 2005. On two nights after 10 p.m. the witness and her daughter saw a short grey slender shape dash behind trees and run toward cover near the river, followed once by a thud and high-pitched shrieks. The family also heard patterned rock clicks and nearby walking and breathing, and noticed a skunk-like odor. The family became frightened and packed to leave.
Memory told of a possible daylight sighting as a child on Mount Graham
As a 10-year-old visiting Mount Graham with relatives, the witness sat alone on a fallen tree with her back to an upslope boulder. She felt she was being watched, glanced behind her, and saw a large dark hair-covered creature standing upright partly behind the boulder about fifteen feet away. After a second or two she ran to her family, who dismissed her account.
Possible night time sighting near Big Lake
The witness was riding in a car at night returning to camp with relatives when she looked out the side window. She saw a large, very furry animal in a break in the trees beside the road and watched it take several steps moving toward the forest. It appeared to be walking upright on two legs and looked larger than a bear, though darkness prevented seeing other features.
