The witness was deer hunting from a familiar tree stand and had been there about two hours when loud deep breathing, snorts and bellows were directed at them from nearby. The witness and a hunting companion were talking in the bed of a pickup while camped after bow hunting near Crooked Creek on a bright moonlit night. About 20 yards away they watched a two-legged figure peek from behind a cottonwood tree, then run to hide behind another cottonwood. Feeling unsafe with only a bow, they shouted about having guns and then left, driving 25 miles to sleep elsewhere.

When the shape swiveled slightly, the witness backed away and returned quickly to the vehicle, visibly frightened.
