Possible sighting of a Sasquatch crossing Interstate 5 at north end of Centralia
The witness was driving northbound on I-5 through Centralia in a snowstorm shortly after midnight. A large dark humanoid figure crossed the highway from east to west in front of the vehicle and went over the center median without apparent effort. The witness saw its silhouetted head and shoulders against distant lights as it continued west across the southbound lanes while oncoming cars braked.

The witness and a companion camped beside a river and heard loud yelling that dropped into a groan or growl, followed hours later by closer calls, heavy footfalls, rustling on a hillside, and a large splash in the river. They could see nothing by flashlight from their vehicle. Shortly after, occupants of a passing car stopped and said a massive hairy figure had just run across the road in front of them.

The witness was walking home at night near a creek when something began throwing sticks and rocks and following her. The throwing reportedly paused when cars passed. She ran to a bridge where the pursuer entered bushes but continued throwing objects, while she heard footsteps, smelled a strong bad odor, and glimpsed only a large dark figure. Footprints were reportedly found in sand the next day.

About eight years before the phone interview, the witness was riding horses with his wife on a logging road in wooded country when he saw a dark animal cross the road a couple hundred yards ahead. The animal moved quickly on all fours using long arms and then disappeared into vegetation. The couple rode to the crossing spot, where their horses became frightened and refused to continue, behavior the witness said was unlike their reactions to bears.

While lying on a couch at night watching a deer through a window gap, the witness saw the deer flee from a large bulky animal running on all fours. The deer stopped under bright lights at a power plant area which the pursuer would not enter. The animal then stood upright and walked on two legs across the highway and over a guardrail up a hill.

Two people driving south into Washington in the early afternoon saw a dark hair-covered animal dash across the highway from forest to forest. The witness described it as lean and long, moving partly on two legs and partly on four, with no visible pointed ears. The sighting lasted only moments and was first dismissed as an abnormal animal, only years later considered as possibly sasquatch.

On the evening of the day after Christmas 1992, the witness and her ex-husband were driving on Deep River Mainline toward Naselle in snowy, dark conditions with only headlights. The witness, then nine years old, was traveling with family on Highway 141 to collect rocks on the morning Mount St. Helens erupted. From about 200 yards away the witness saw a very tall, big brown figure run across the highway in two steps with arms swinging during an observation of about two seconds. The parents, who were looking out the side windows, did not see the figure.

A light-colored animal on all fours crossed the road in front of the car, turned to look at them, then disappeared into darkness. After pulling forward the pair smelled strong sulfur but could not relocate the animal and left.
