The horses became nervous with ears moving back and forth, and a strong dirty wet-dog odor was noticed. Two closely grown intertwined trees nearby began shaking violently from about five to six feet up, though nothing could be seen between the branches. The riders focused on controlling the startled horses and then turned back toward the corral.

While fishing from a boat near shore, the witness smelled a strong musky odor for several minutes, then spotted a tall hair-covered figure partly hidden behind a short tree at the treeline. The figure remained still for a couple minutes, then stood, stepped into the open to look at the boat, and walked slowly uphill into denser forest. A companion in the boat also smelled the odor but did not see the figure.
