A family camping at a wooded campsite was awakened around 4 a.m. by strange calling sounds and heavy footsteps behind their tent. After shouting, they heard heavy stomping retreat into the woods and fled to their car. They returned later that morning, heard heavy breathing and had a stick thrown toward them before retreating again, later finding disturbed garbage and an opened food packet before leaving.

Each time they went outside they found no one there, but they noticed a strong foul odor. The witness shone a flashlight but never saw what was throwing the objects, and the group left when the objects landed too close.

Shortly after sunset he heard repeated sets of three loud strikes on trees from the forest to the south that moved between trees for about an hour. They cut the engine about 20 feet from shore and watched into the darkness. Three objects splashed close to the boat over about a minute, believed to be thrown rocks, with no other sounds heard, before they restarted the engine and left.

The group apologized, left tobacco, and departed without investigating further because of the children.
