The next day the witness and a companion could not replicate the movement by pushing the trailer.

They heard loud hair-raising howl-like screams coming from opposite directions for several minutes, as if two sources were calling back and forth. Minutes after the sounds stopped, a foul rotting odor drifted through camp while the forest remained completely silent.

About an hour after dark they heard a loud minute-long scream that shifted in pitch and direction and seemed to originate just outside the camp light. In May 2023 the witness camped overnight with four companions at a secluded site off Dry Creek Trail north of Boise. Unable to sleep, the witness heard three long howls from different directions across the valley, described as similar to a known Ohio recording but longer. The companions reportedly did not hear the sounds, and no further howls occurred that night.
