The witness was hunting alone from a ridge when repeated very loud, short guttural shouts or growls approached from about 200 yards to about 75 yards, accompanied by rapidly approaching breaking brush. He never saw the source but readied a camera and rifle while waiting motionless. After a spooked cow moose ran through a distant saddle, he threw rocks and fired a shot with no response and then left.

In April 1999 the witness and family were gathered around a campfire at night near a stream in the Tushar Mountains when they heard loud branch-breaking from the woods across the stream for several minutes. The sounds were followed by a human-like screaming cry that sent several children running to a nearby cabin. The witness, described as an avid hunter, said the cry matched no known local animal and thought a human prank was possible but unlikely.

Two companions on a multi-night archery hunting and camping trip heard a loud repeated yell/scream approaching their camp late at night. After driving to investigate and hearing it from closer range, they returned to find it within about a hundred yards, also hearing walking and stick-breaking nearby. Frightened, they hastily packed their tent and left the area by truck in the early morning without ever seeing the source.

The witness was camping with relatives by a lake and sleeping in a tent. Around 2-3 a.m. the witness was awakened by heavy footsteps outside, something touching the tent, and sounds from the lake. The witness shouted and went outside, after which two unseen presences reportedly ran past the tents and left. A relative in another tent also heard them run past.

The witness was walking through trees near Dodge Point when he heard loud stomping made by two feet. He then saw two trees being violently shaken and briefly saw a hairy left arm and shoulder between trees. The stomping subsided and he ran back to the house, then drove to town with his wife to tell her parents.

In August 1964 two teenagers were walking back to a family cabin in Big Cottonwood Canyon after dark when they heard footsteps matching their movements and a low unearthly growl. They ran through a gully to the cabin and locked themselves inside. They then heard the nearby outhouse door open and slam, saw nothing when they turned on an outside light, later heard the door fling open with crashing in brush, and spent the night upstairs.
