The witness was alone at a lakeside camp at night when a loud road-blasting shot triggered a rockslide. Right afterward the witness heard a large animal crashing through brush and then prolonged howling and screaming from across the lake for about half an hour. Friends arrived later and heard nothing further that night.

Frightened, they hastily packed their tent and left the area by truck in the early morning without ever seeing the source.

The witness heard footsteps moving through thick brush behind the thicket, called out, and felt watched as the steps paused then resumed more slowly. An unseen source then produced a very loud deep growl rising toward a roar, prompting the witness to flee with the child.

Six soldiers on a night recon patrol through swamp heard an unseen presence following and circling them closely for 10-15 minutes, weaving between them even after they split into two groups. Later two soldiers in ambush position heard a loud scream-roar twice, followed by the sound of a large rotten tree falling and brush breaking. The sounds then stopped and the presence was heard leaving.

A large college group camped late at night in a remote, densely wooded rocky area. After midnight they heard large rocks being thrown into and around a nearby stream and loud wailing, howling and grunting sounds that grew closer when the camp was loud and receded when quiet. After confirming all members were present, most of the group left early while about 10-15 stayed quietly until dawn as the sounds grew more distant.

The witness was bow hunting from a tree stand at dusk near a swampy dead-end road when he heard something climb down a tree and walk toward him. At about 10 to 15 yards he saw an upright, entirely black figure walking bipedally and swinging its arms. He shined a flashlight and whistled, the figure stopped, and when he looked again it was gone without sound; his companion at the truck reported seeing no one.

Later that night around 2-3 am they heard heavy bipedal footsteps in pine needles moving behind their tent, but saw nothing when they looked out. No tracks were found the next morning due to pine needle cover.

While mountain biking, the witness heard a large animal moving in brush off the trail but could not see it. About 200 yards farther up the trail, the group found very large detailed footprints overlying companions' tracks, which left the trail for a meadow and reappeared crossing the road about half a mile farther on. Coincidentally encountered bear hunters also examined the prints and were unfamiliar with them.

While working alone to clear trail, the witness heard something moving parallel to him downslope for a couple of hours. The footfalls sounded clearly bipedal and the unseen mover easily kept pace through steep, brushy terrain. The witness never saw the source, noticing only moving saplings, and the sounds stopped about half an hour from his truck.

They left the area without returning for prints after rain washed the site.

The witness and three companions were sitting by a dying campfire late at night when a dog ran back into camp frightened. They then noticed a tall shadowy figure just beyond the firelight that turned to face them, showing eye reflection and a strong foul wet-animal odor. After staring for under a minute, the figure ran upslope through brush breaking branches, while the group shouted and then kept the fire up all night.

Seven people were settled in a tent around 1 a.m. when they heard an indescribable scream from about a quarter-mile away. Shortly after, they heard the sound again much closer, estimated at about 50 feet behind the tent, and everyone froze. After the second scream the witness heard slow brush noises interpreted as something walking away.

The witness was deer hunting alone in the evening while sitting on the ground against a tree. He heard non-hooved footsteps moving in brush behind him, followed by a very loud sustained scream-howl from very close range. He readied his rifle and listened as it moved away deeper into brush, then left the area without finishing the hunt.

Two people were fishing for catfish in a creek at night when they heard footsteps approaching through dense woods. After they called out, the footsteps paused and then rushed toward them, splitting into two individuals that ran past them through the creek while splashing and breaking limbs. The witnesses reported no visual contact due to darkness and woods and no vocalizations, then fled the area leaving their gear.

Around 3 a.m. the witness claims a large animal walked through the group's camp from dense cover while everyone listened. The witness deliberately stayed quiet to avoid provoking it. Later the campers compared notes and one said he had seen a human-like silhouette at the time they all heard the animal.

They shone lights toward the sound and saw very large green glowing eyes, then fled to the highway. From a ditch they looked back and saw an enormous upright outline with arms hanging past its knees before running away.

The witness and two companions drove late at night to a wooded hilltop lookout, spent 15 to 20 minutes on top, then started walking downhill toward the car. While descending they heard heavy footsteps on both sides that kept pace with them and estimated five or six unseen individuals from groupings of footfalls. They shouted warnings, received no verbal response, then ran to the car and drove away without ever seeing the source.

In the spring of 1994 the witness was camping with friends and walked alone on a trail around 1 a.m. He heard footsteps keeping parallel in dense brush to his right and judged from the stepping pattern that it was walking on two feet. Frightened as the sounds moved closer, he returned to camp, woke friends, and went back to search but found nothing.
