After watching about five minutes they gathered gear and walked back to the parking area feeling watched.
Boy has possible nighttime encounter near family campfire close to Raccoon River
The witness was camping with family when the group heard knocking and branch-breaking sounds for about an hour. He walked about 10 yards from the fire to investigate and saw a small dark shape dash past, then noticed a tall bipedal figure staring at him from about nine feet away for about 10 seconds before it turned and walked away silently. He ran back to the cabin and stayed inside for the night.
Possible encounter while fishing at Kanapolis Lake
Late at night while fishing at the Kanopolis Lake spillway, the reporter noticed movement on a hill and then a large figure peeking from behind a tree about 150-200 yards away. The reporter and an adult companion watched it peek in and out for about 45 minutes, seeing red eye-shine with and without a flashlight. Near the end, the companion heard a single knock and a 3-4 second high-pitched scream from the figure's area, which the reporter could not hear over the flowing water.

The witness was camping with companions in Big Cypress Preserve and walked to a parked Jeep to get a phone. About 15 feet into the woods he saw yellow human-like eyes at about his own eye level and smelled a strong skunk and wet-dog odor. Frightened, he returned to the campfire and later revisited the spot with a companion and spotlight but found nothing.

The witness shone a flashlight into the woods and saw reddish eyeshine staring back for about 20 seconds, during which it blinked. The animal then turned and walked away uphill deeper into the woods, and the witness later measured a reference tree to estimate the eye height at about 7 feet.

A group walking back to a cottage late at night on a dirt road through dense woods heard something large paralleling them. They stopped and watched a very tall, light-colored illuminated figure moving in a small circle near a mailbox, heard a short powerful grunt, and then saw reddish eyes watching from the woods. The eyes retreated deeper, dropped low and disappeared while the group returned to the cottage.

The witness was driving home at night on a dirt backroad when something struck the truck, leaving scratches and a dent on the passenger door. After calling for help, the witness with two relatives found footprints along the road and photographed them. While photographing they saw green eye-shine above the brush and a large upright shadowy outline, then heard wood knocks, growling and heavy footsteps before the eyes disappeared.

A few nights after hearing loud vocalizations at the farm, the witness rode an ATV down the driveway to close a gate. The headlights caught a very wide-set pair of yellowish-white eyes in the treeline about seven to eight feet off the ground, causing intense fear and a quick retreat after closing the gate. The next day the witness found no low branches and no accessible ground to check for tracks, estimating the eyes would have required an approximately eight-foot-tall standing figure.

The witness was driving a truck on I-75 at dusk in fog when a tall dark bipedal creature crossed the highway ahead from forest toward an orchard, covering the lanes in a few long strides and clearing the median and a fence. After pulling over, the witness shone a spotlight into the area, saw red-orange eyeshine for several seconds and heard a low grunt before leaving.
Reoccurring activity on a farm near Fife Lake
Around 3:30 a.m. on a warm night in late summer 2011, the witness ran outside with a rifle and flashlight after hearing a chicken squawking. About 100 feet away behind the garage, the witness saw huge orange eyes staring from above a chicken coop and estimated the figure at 6 to 7 feet tall. After briefly looking down to ready the rifle, the figure was gone, and the witness heard something crashing fast through brush to the southwest with heavy breathing. A chicken was found alive but missing rear feathers with a pile of feathers nearby and no digging.

Late at night while hiking with a companion, the witness rested at a picnic table and shone a headlamp toward a hillside. The light revealed three sets of large green eyeshine, one pair of which appeared to rise to about nine feet high. After watching the eyes approach, freeze, and fade away, the pair left the area frightened.

The witness shot a deer at dusk and dragged it toward his truck after dark. On the trail he saw a widely spaced pair of large eyes at about his own height that stayed after he fired a handgun into the ground, then left to the side through dense brush with loud crashing. He smelled a foul musky odor and found pushed-over vegetation where it left, felt watched while field-dressing the deer, and later found part of the carcass dragged about 300 yards.

The witness and a companion were in a boat heading toward shore at night when they heard splashes, smelled a foul wet-animal odor, and saw shoreline vegetation shaking violently. A large rock was thrown from shore toward them and landed near the boat. When they shone a flashlight toward shore they saw a large dark human-shaped figure with red glowing eyes partly obscured by vegetation, then yelled and banged oars before retreating to a safer distance and hearing a loud scream or roar as they loaded the boat and left.

A driver on country back roads at night slowed after noticing something hiding behind a tree by the road. The figure peeked out at the vehicle and then hid again. The witness described a very tall human-like face with red eyes and was disturbed that it seemed to intentionally avoid the headlights.

Two volunteers were feeding birds at a raptor center late at night when they heard something large moving in the woods beyond the cages. They followed sounds of heavy footsteps and snapping twigs along a walkway for about 30 minutes as it moved toward a reservoir inlet. Both reported seeing large red eyes during the pursuit but did not describe seeing a body.

They also reported white eyeshine, a pungent odor, a dark figure seen in the treeline after daylight, and footprints and torn branches found in the morning.
