The first scream was estimated about 50 yards away, with subsequent screams sounding progressively farther at about 100 and 200 yards and minutes apart. The witness described the sound as human-like but guttural with bass, offensive or warning in character, and unlike known wildlife. The witness, a wildlife biology student surveying songbird nests in a clear-cut, heard a very loud repetitive whooping from a ridge about 100 yards above for 3 to 4 minutes. The witness later concluded the sound matched an archival whoop recording and was not a known bird.

The witness was vacationing with family and staying in a condo at a resort in Mammoth Cave State Park. Just after sunset he heard three loud scream-like vocalizations, after which all other ambient sounds went silent for several minutes before resuming. A daughter who was present heard the final vocalization. The witness was unable to determine the distance or direction of the sounds and concluded they were made by a Sasquatch.

The witness and a companion were walking dogs along Redwood Creek in the afternoon and waded across to examine sandbars on the south bank. A short distance upstream they found three large footprints that appeared to enter the water. The clearest print was long and narrow with five toes and no arch, measured at about 14.5 inches with about a 4-foot stride, and no clear exit trail was located.

After the witness mimicked the calls, the callers replied and appeared to move closer, while the dogs grew fearful and cowered. Once sounds were very close in the trees after dark and the dogs barked aggressively at the vehicle windows, the witness left the area by vehicle.

The witness was scouting an area southwest of Louse Camp near Bluff Creek in the morning and found a single large footprint in an old mud puddle, which they recorded on video. The print was described as 16 inches long and almost 6 inches wide at the heel. Several snapped trees were also noted in the area.

The witness and his sister examined three large barefoot-like impressions found on a closed section of trail near timberline. The clearest impression showed a heel, arch, ball and five toes and was compared on video to a size-12 hiking boot.
