The witness was scouting for turkeys in spring on the southern side of Jacks Mountain when turkey-like clucking from dense brush drew him closer. Two occupants driving slowly on a wooded road at night saw an animal enter the roadway on all fours about 40 to 50 yards ahead. The animal turned its head toward the vehicle, showing red eyes, then continued across the road. When the car reached the crossing point, the occupants saw a tall, large silhouette standing motionless beside the road. They became frightened and drove quickly to a house.

The accompanying dog reacted fearfully while the witness could see nothing with a flashlight. The witness left all gear and hiked out that night, returning the next day to find everything untouched and no tracks.
