As a paperboy delivering newspapers in Eldridge in early February 1981, the witness found very large human-like footprints in snow crossing the town from northeast to southwest, and found a second set retracing the route in reverse the next morning. Several days later, while delivering Sunday papers with his father driving, the witness tossed a paper against a door and immediately heard a loud scream from beside the house that he attributed to the same creature. The witness never saw the animal itself.

The witness was riding on a school bus at night after a game when they noticed a tall, hair-covered figure standing in a corn field near a scarecrow. The figure was watched for several seconds as the bus passed about 75 to 100 yards away. Other passengers did not see it and laughed when the witness called out.

Over several hours at night they heard heavy bipedal footsteps circling the trailer, brushing and clawing sounds on the siding, door and ceiling vent, and later blows to the trailer. The witness reported a brief glimpse of a long shaggy finger-like shape through the vent screen, and said the sounds withdrew when a car approached and returned later.

The dog ran into a thicket and barked, then a loud scream was heard over the barking followed by snapping branches, and the dog fled home. Two companions fishing at a mountain lake got off the trail in thick brush on a very dark stormy night and noticed bright green eyes watching them from well above ground level. The figure with the eyes followed them to the lakeshore and then to their truck, staying in the trees and staring without sound or movement even when they charged toward it yelling. They backed away slowly, freed their stuck truck, and drove home, telling no one for years.
