Late at night the witness noticed the apple tree at the far corner of the yard shaking violently. After a brief check with a night-vision scope that revealed nothing, the witness looked again and saw the upper portion of a tall, hairy, human-like figure walking toward the creek past tall berry bushes. The figure was backlit by a neighboring porch light, showing a large rounded head on very large rounded shoulders with little neck.

A woman picking berries with her sister noticed a single large footprint in a bare, soft-ground patch beside a road waterbar. She returned two days later to make a cast, which showed uneven depth attributed to slope and an embedded rock. A passing ranger observed the track during the casting.

An animal initially mistaken for the dog stood up and walked away to join two larger individuals, and all three left into the brush. The account was relayed to night-shift deputies by the head of the household, who described the group as differing in size.
