The witness claims an extremely loud cow-call-like vocalization was encountered again less than a week ago in hardwood bottoms just before dark. The sound is compared to a human using a bullhorn and is said to vibrate the body. The witness states he leaves the scene whenever the screaming occurs, interpreting it as a warning when getting too close.
Screaming and eyeshine witnessed by hunter in the Big Hole Mountains
The witness was riding horseback at night near a creek confluence when a loud raspy scream was heard repeatedly from about 40 yards away in the creek. A second animal to the east answered with a loud whistle and rapid grunts. After turning on lights the witness saw eyeshine from the creek, lost it, then later saw two pairs of eyes on the far bank that turned and moved away.
Multiple witnesses hear possible vocalizations near Darrington
Six people sitting around a campfire heard a very close, loud two-part vocalization described as whooing/moaning followed after a pause by a booming scream, then heard something moving across the creek. No visual contact was reported. The next day witnesses found a freshly broken/twisted sapling and barefoot-like prints of multiple sizes in a sandy area and made casts of tracks.

The witness was camping with a relative near a lake and got up early to make breakfast. From the campsite area the witness heard two loud howl-like vocalizations coming from across the lake about a mile away. The witness ran toward the lakeshore while listening but saw nothing. The relative was not told until hours later.
Bowhunter finds twisted trees, tracks, scat, & unusual sounds
The witness was bow-hunting in coastal second-growth forest on the morning of 9/1/01. He heard whooping and scream-like vocalizations followed by a large tree falling, plus heavy footsteps, and later found large ground impressions, broken limbs and tops, and animal hair high on a tree. An investigator later reviewed photos of broken and twisted trees and received frozen scat and hair samples for examination.
Elk hunters hear screams in remote canyon below
Two companions were elk hunting on a hillside before sunrise. They heard extremely loud, piercing screams from across the canyon repeating several times. The sound rose from low to high pitch and seemed to silence other wildlife for the day. They did not recognize the source at the time and did not search for footprints.
