The witness attempted a phone audio recording but it did not capture the sounds clearly.

A group of five hiked an old closed ridge road around midnight under moonlight. After the leader produced knocks, responsive knocking came from timber about 50 feet away where a shadowy figure was seen, and the leader exchanged sounds with it. As the group hiked back to their cars they were flanked with glowing eyes, vocalizations and rustling.

The witness and two companions camped in the Mt Hood National Forest with a barrel of animal entrails intended as bait. Over three days they reported loud screams from a nearby ridge, nighttime wood knocks, heavy steps and snapping twigs, and found their camp table apparently bitten through. They moved the bait pile away from camp, later found most of it missing with a wet sweet dog-like odor at the site.

The witness was sleeping at home with the bedroom window open when he woke abruptly around 12:30 a.m. He then heard very loud wailing, screaming, laughing and whoop-like yells coming from a field several hundred yards away. The witness was at home in Rainier, Washington, playing video games when unknown loud calls, cries and hoots were heard on several nights in early February 2011. The witness visited a pine forest site three times in the early morning. On the first visit he heard heavy footsteps retreating, smelled a skunk-like odor, and saw a rock thrown into water. On later visits he heard loud repeated calls and low moans, heard footsteps approach to within about 15 feet without seeing the source, had a large stick thrown near him, left food and recorded vocalizations, and noted indistinct footprints and large broken trees.

The witness and a child sat in a parked pickup with windows down near a night listening location. After waiting, they heard a prolonged clamor of fighting coyotes uphill with a distinct human- or ape-like yowling mixed in lasting about 45 seconds. The witness believed others near the blasting area recorded the sounds and later said several participants agreed they had heard something other than a known animal.

On the night of October 28, 2000 the witness was hosting an adult-only backyard barbecue party with about a dozen guests. Around 10 p.m. the group heard loud unidentified sounds from the woods near the back of the property and heard heavy footsteps breaking branches that sounded bipedal. Two men entered the woods with a flashlight but the source stayed distant and was never seen, and no tracks were found in deep oak leaves.
