The witness and two companions were scouting for deer season by a creek near a cedar swamp when they heard an unfamiliar low growl. After the witness threw stones toward the sound, they saw a dark upright shadow moving at the swamp edge and rocks were thrown back toward them. Hearing further growls and large branches breaking, the group left quickly for their vehicle.

The witness and a companion were hunting raccoons at night with a hound that first treed a raccoon then pursued another animal through forest. After the dog returned frightened and stayed close, the pair tried to walk out in darkness with failing lights. For an hour or two they heard something large circling them with heavy footfalls and crashing vegetation and small trees breaking nearby, but they never saw the source.

The witness heard quiet rustling behind a small hill, then a large tree shook violently and a loud roar/scream sounded. The witness fled to the truck, met waiting officers, and returned with them to retrieve the companion, who had also heard the scream and seen deer flee. The group left the woods together without explanation for the sound.
