Large unknown animal on all fours seen crossing a road near Patterson

The witness and a companion were driving on a highway bordered by treelines and weeds near dusk. About 50 yards ahead, a large dark hairy figure emerged from the treeline on the left and crossed the road diagonally on all fours. They slowed to avoid hitting it but continued driving without stopping. The witness described it as unlike any known animal, with long front arms, squat rear legs, and dirty matted hair.
