Recollection of a possible nighttime encounter on a four-wheeler near Sullivan
The witness and two companions snuck out on a 4-wheeler into woods behind a house on a snowy night. They noticed a dead-like odor and heard monkey-like chattering, then saw a tall hair-covered biped walk toward them while growling. The group fled on the vehicle and on foot as the animal followed to within arm's reach without touching them, apparently driving them from the area.
Recollection of possible vocalizations and brush crashing while camping in the Lil-Aaron Straus Wilderness Area
Three companions camped off-trail in a low valley. In the early morning the reporter and one companion were awakened by loud, close wailing vocalizations followed by crashing vegetation, breaking branches and heavy thuds lasting several minutes. A third companion slept through the episode. The group left at dawn and found no physical signs.
Hunters hear night scream near South Boston
In 1981 the witness and a relative were raccoon hunting with dogs at night when they heard an extremely loud prolonged scream lasting about fifteen seconds. The dogs fell silent and ran back to the witnesses, with one staying between the witness's legs looking toward the sound. The witnesses loaded a gun, backed toward their car, and ended the hunt when the dogs jumped into the back seat.

On a fall evening just before dusk, the witness, then a child, and the father were at their farm when the father heard a loud disturbance in a wooded valley below a field. The father took a tape recorder and walked toward the sounds of a loud growling/roaring creature apparently fighting a neighbor's dog while the child waited uphill by a feed trough. The creature was never seen because it was too dark in the woods, and the father returned uphill. The neighbor's dog was never seen again.
