Evening archery hunters hear possible whoops for 15 minutes in Mt. Hood National Forest
The witness was archery hunting with his wife and son and had gathered back at their truck around 7 p.m. They heard loud whoop-like vocalizations from the treeline, and after the son imitated a whoop they heard louder responses from multiple directions continuing for several minutes. The witness stated the sounds were unlike any known animal, that the exchange was recorded on phones, and that no other people were in the area.
Camper's nighttime howl has possible knock response in Mt. Hood National Forest
Six people were camping and talking around a campfire after dinner when a child imitated a howl. About 5 to 10 seconds later the group heard a single loud wood knock from a forested ridge above the lake. No other campers were nearby, and no other sounds, odors, or tracks were reported.
Boy scout hears repeated screams
As a young scout camping overnight in a tent away from the main camp, the witness lay awake while his tent mate slept. He heard repeated loud vocalizations from a distance that started low, rose higher with a warbling quality, then faded. The sounds continued for about an hour and at times seemed to get closer, while he remained motionless and silent in his sleeping bag.
