While camping in a tent with six others, the witness heard something large moving near camp followed by distinctive hoot-whoop vocalizations attributed to two or possibly three animals. The sounds moved away from the camp and then returned about two hours later. All seven tent occupants heard the sounds.

Two companions hiking back from a mountain trail claim rocks were thrown toward them from the woods over an extended period, starting with misses above and behind them and later coming close enough to duck. They also report hearing an unidentified whining sound, possible footsteps, knock-like sounds, and a tree being shaken, without ever seeing the source. Near the area they noticed a green limb broken high and left hanging.

The witness was hiking alone near a small pond in the afternoon and stopped for lunch when a loud, sing-song-like vocalization was heard from about 300 yards away. The sound lasted about two minutes with changing pitch and seemed like a single creature talking to itself. The witness left quickly and later revisits found nothing unusual.

The screams sounded first from a distance, then very close on the property, then again from a distance at a third location, each cycle consisting of several evenly spaced wails. The sounds were described as loud, female-like and frightening, with no accompanying movement noises, and the wife awoke during the close cycle.

The witness was camping in a tent near Sabathday Point and stepped outside in the early morning to make a phone call. After the call he heard a noise and saw a large hairy human-shaped figure about 60 feet away walking up a slight incline. He watched for about five seconds, noted it lacked a bear-like snout, then ran back to the tent to tell his companions.

Six people were camping at a lakeside site late at night. After most of the group went to bed, the witness entered a tent set very close to the water. The witness and a companion heard splashing and branches moving behind the tent, then the witness saw an elbow-like shape drag down the tent wall. This was followed by loud heavy thuds of something running away from camp.
Investigator finds 8 inch diameter sapling snapped in two, 6 feet from ground
An investigator spent the morning searching fields, a cemetery, and surrounding woods after hearing about a recent local sighting. Rain had washed away possible tracks and the ground was hard, so no footprints were found. In the woods at the cemetery edge the investigator found a fresh snapped sapling and photographed it. The investigator also spoke with nearby residents, including a child who relayed a mother's nighttime driveway encounter, but no creature was seen during the visit.
At Sabbathday Point, Family Reports strange sounds near their cabin
Over two-week periods in 1992 and 1993, the witness repeatedly heard loud nighttime sounds near a lakeside cabin, described as whistling, chattering, screams and deep thumping lasting one to four minutes. The sounds seemed to move quickly from a mountaintop to the road area about 200 feet away, possibly involving two callers. The witness looked out with a flashlight but saw nothing and remained inside out of fear.

A couple hiking down a mountain road at dusk heard a large unseen presence moving through the woods beside the road. The sounds matched their movements, stopping when they stopped, and continued alongside them for an hour or more as they descended. They spoke loudly to try to scare it away and judged from the loud crunching steps that it was very large and not a deer.
