Hikers find footprint in Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
The witness was backpacking with a companion in the Great Smoky Mountains and left the trail to bushwhack through a shallow creek. The witness found a single large bare footprint with five toes in silty sand and examined it for some time. No other prints or nearby camping spots were noted, and the witness felt familiar bear prints could not explain it.

The witness was backpacking alone on a steep, snow-covered trail when they found large bare human-like footprints heading the same direction for about a mile and a half. The witness initially dismissed them as a possible hoax and chose not to photograph them. Overnight rain melted the snow, and the footprints were gone by the descent the next day.
