Mother and daughter find footprints in their front yard in Pilot Mountain
On a snowy early winter morning, a witness noticed three large human-like footprints in otherwise undisturbed snow and asked the second witness to look. Both went outside and inspected three very large five-toed prints that appeared isolated without a trail leading in or out. The prints were later described as pristine and measuring sixteen inches long by seven inches wide.

The witness was awake in a tent with family near the James River in the early morning hours. Over about 30 minutes the witness heard about five loud, strange howls from a distance that varied in pitch, intensity, and apparent location, with two seeming closer. The rest of the family slept while the family dog barked softly at each sound, and the witness loaded a shotgun and stayed alert until morning.
