They knocked back and received responses, filmed the exchange, then heard further knocks and repetitive rock-on-tree tapping as they started up the trail. They saw nothing in the dense woods and eventually left.

Two companions drove to a lookout on Green Mountain to camp for the night and sat by a campfire. The witness heard branch and twig breaks approaching, then a stick flew over the truck, followed by a basketball-sized rock landing a few feet from the fire. Without seeing the source, they put out the fire and left quickly.
