Driver observes two dark figures on the roadside near Rainy Pass

The witness was driving east on a mountain highway near twilight when she saw a tall, dark, upright figure on the roadside about a quarter-mile ahead. As she approached, the figure slipped fluidly down a steep rocky ravine and disappeared. A few miles farther east, she saw a second, slightly smaller dark figure that likewise moved swiftly and smoothly down the slope, shaking small trees as it passed.
