Local couple hear loud knocks from different directions in Coeur d' Alene Mountains, 5 miles north of Osburn

The witness and a companion were playing cribbage on their truck tailgate on a mountain ridge in the afternoon when they heard loud knocks from different directions. After the second knock they walked toward the sound and the witness produced a howl and a knock, which was quickly answered by another knock. They then heard an additional knock from the opposite side of the truck and left the area after hearing nothing more.
