Bigfoot-like Howls and Stalking at North Battle Creek Reservoir, Lassen National Forest
Late at night at a forest reservoir campground, the witness's adult son was reading in his tent while his parents slept nearby. His small dog began shaking and growling as very heavy bipedal footsteps approached, stopped at and partially circled the tent, an approach that repeated three times despite shouting. The son briefly exited with a weak light but saw no one and only heard heavy walking receding. The next morning no tracks were found near the tent except deer tracks some distance away.

The witness was riding a personal watercraft up the Pit River arm of Shasta Lake in July. While rounding a turn, the witness saw a large hairy head with eyes about 20 feet from shore staring at them. Three people riding horses in snow noticed large bare-foot tracks with toes alongside many animal tracks. The main trackway came up from a gulch, followed the road, then returned downhill, with smaller tracks joining from a steep draw. The witness was driving at night on a highway near Shingletown when the truck headlights illuminated a tall, dark, upright figure crossing the road. The figure reportedly walked with a very long stride and swinging arms, glanced toward the truck, then went up a roadside embankment and disappeared before the witness could speak to the passenger.

In late summer 2006, two companions fishing from a canoe in the middle of a remote mountain lake heard a very loud, long growl-yell coming from a hillside. They froze and visually scanned the hillside for several minutes but saw no movement and heard no further sounds, then packed up and left. The witness stated neither person had heard a similar sound despite extensive time outdoors.

Late at night while sitting by a nearly out campfire, the witness heard branches breaking at decreasing distances and then very heavy bipedal-sounding footsteps approaching. After waking a companion, both heard a few more steps before the sounds stopped. Nothing was seen because it was dark and the source was in trees. No footprints were searched for the next day.
Family hears late night vocalizations near Lake McCumber
The witness and companions stayed overnight near a meadow at Lake McCumber and heard a strange high-pitched, human-like howling from the meadow off and on between 3 and 5 a.m. Two companions stayed up on the deck listening while the witness listened from bed. No creature was seen. The next morning a fawn without its mother was noticed in the meadow.

The witness and his wife were sleeping in a small cabin near Viola when the wife woke the witness after hearing a strange sound. The witness then heard a loud, repeated scream-like call lasting about 25 seconds from some distance away. He did not recognize it as a known animal but later found it matched sounds on bigfoot-related sites, while stating he could not say what it was.

The witness went alone to rifle-hunt deer and walked up an overgrown skid road beside a creek. About 150 yards up the road he noticed a large human-like footprint on the creek bank measuring about 17 inches long and 6 inches wide. A homeowner had shot a deer and hung it in a tree behind the house. That night while going to let dogs out, he heard an unfamiliar scream and saw a large ape-like creature in the yard. The creature seized the deer and fled into the forest, tearing out a stretch of barbed-wire fence and leaving hair and tracks. A friend visiting the next day was shown where it stood and ran, including the tracks and hair.

While on a family houseboat trip, the witness walked up a creek bed and found two sizes of bare human-like five-toed tracks that crossed sharp rocks and entered the woods. That night while sleeping atop the beached houseboat with a relative, both heard two loud distant resonant screams that rose high then dropped into a gargle-growl. The relative also later reported hearing heavy footsteps, breathing and grunting along the shore before dawn.

A couple drove to a remote meadow near Squaw Creek and camped overnight. After the campfire burned low at night they heard loud breaking branches, rushing movement circling and approaching the camp, and a loud howl-like vocalization, while their dog growled and a strong foul odor was present. They kept the fire large, shone flashlights into the woods without seeing eyeshine, and left at daylight, later associating the incident with Bigfoot after a friend's comment.

About 15 to 20 feet away under the hung food bag stood two very tall, upright, dark-haired figures, one noticeably taller than the other. After the witness gasped, both figures looked at the witness, glanced at each other, then left silently into the darkness. The witness told no one at the time and searched for tracks the next morning without success.
Man recalls adversarial encounter with an unknown creature near French Gulch
During midnight rounds at an isolated school compound, the witness crossed a suspension bridge and heard something raiding trash cans by the cookhouse. He threw rocks toward a large dark figure under the eaves, which stood erect, stepped onto the bridge, dodged thrown rocks, vaulted the bridge cables and fled upstream on two legs. He noted glowing eyes and a foul stench, then returned to his trailer without anyone else responding.

While living at Manton from 1987-1989, the witness's family repeatedly heard strange howls in the evening 2-3 times a week. The sound was thought at the time to come from the cleared swath up the hill along the penstock or powerlines. Years later the witness and family heard the Ohio howl recording and judged it exactly the same sound.
