Possible screams and rock throwing encountered near Duffield
The witness walked to a railroad crossing late at night and heard loud screams and thrashing in nearby woods. Rocks landed around the witness, including one larger rock seen coming through the trees, and the witness threw a rock back before leaving. Screaming was heard continuing up the mountain as the witness returned to the main road. Broken trees were also noticed near the site.

The witness was bow-hunting deer from a tree stand at dusk when deer ran through the creek below after a scream and thump. After climbing down to investigate, he smelled strong body odor, heard tapping and vocal sounds coming from two directions, and had acorn-like objects thrown at him. He then briefly saw a large dark figure watching him from cover before fleeing the area and never returning.

The witness had climbed down from a deer stand during bow season and waited at the base of the tree after hearing movement in the brush assumed to be deer. After it became too dark to shoot, a very loud high-pitched scream or howl lasting several seconds occurred very close to his left. He jumped up and ran about a half-mile to the road and reports he has not returned to those woods since.

The witness and a companion were camping overnight in a tent near a river when, about 15 minutes after turning in, they heard an extremely loud primal scream from very close range. The witness estimated the sound came from several feet off the ground and within a few dozen yards and remained in the tent out of fear. No visual contact or physical traces were reported.

As a paperboy delivering newspapers in Eldridge in early February 1981, the witness found very large human-like footprints in snow crossing the town from northeast to southwest, and found a second set retracing the route in reverse the next morning. Several days later, while delivering Sunday papers with his father driving, the witness tossed a paper against a door and immediately heard a loud scream from beside the house that he attributed to the same creature. The witness never saw the animal itself.
