Family members encounter footprint
While hiking with two relatives in the Siuslaw National Forest, the witness was shown a single large footprint in dried mud beside the trail. The print was measured, photographed, and cast, and the surrounding area was searched for additional sign without success. The witness states the origin of the print is undetermined.
Bowhunter finds twisted trees, tracks, scat, & unusual sounds
The witness was bow-hunting in coastal second-growth forest on the morning of 9/1/01. He heard whooping and scream-like vocalizations followed by a large tree falling, plus heavy footsteps, and later found large ground impressions, broken limbs and tops, and animal hair high on a tree. An investigator later reviewed photos of broken and twisted trees and received frozen scat and hair samples for examination.
Hunters find track in mountains above Falls City
The witness was scouting deer locations by vehicle with two relatives when he found a large human-like footprint at a logging-road turnaround overlooking a ravine. The relatives joined him to examine it closely and they found a coarse hair inside the print. They photographed and videotaped the print and kept the hair in a film container, but the hair was later lost while showing it to someone.
Two archery hunters recall a strong smell and find large tracks near Grand Ronde
Two companions bowhunted for elk and hiked out after dark toward their truck parked behind a locked gate. Along the ridge and back to the road they repeatedly noticed a moldy, musky odor and felt as if they were being watched. Near the truck they found very large human-like footprints, about 16 inches long, overlying their own earlier tire tracks. They saw no live animal and left quickly.
Hunter has unexplained, late night encounter while in small boat on Saddle Creek
Late at night the witness paddled a small boat up a creek with two dogs and heard something following on the bank, then a loud blowing noise. The dogs refused to go ashore and later barked intensely. The witness shone a light and saw a large ape-like figure running away over a hill, then noticed a group of tracks while leaving. A skunk-like brassy odor was noted before the sighting.
