Two hikers were descending a road when they heard multiple loud tree knocks, had rocks thrown past them, smelled an intense stench, and one of them saw a dark figure watching. They fled downhill toward their vehicle while using an air horn, heard a loud guttural whoop near the car, and reported being followed for several miles.

The witness was camped with two children on a ridgeline near Tarryall Reservoir. On two consecutive nights the witness heard loud deep whooping calls, first from the valley below and then much closer to camp, with wood-on-wood-like banging the first night and coyotes falling silent. On the second night the witness left the tent with a rifle and light and heard something large and heavy crashing through timber with loud footsteps, then stood guard until morning and left early without telling the children.
Family finds and hears compelling evidence near Leadville
A family hiking around a high-elevation lake above treeline near Leadville found footprint-like depressions in moss between glacial rocks and found additional depressions on further search. They also noted moss torn from boulders, chewed, and left in neat piles, and heard grouped rapping sounds on each of three visits over three days. They recorded the tracks and moss on video and made a cast of one track. No animal was seen.
