Brazos River campers encounter powerful vocalizations at close range

The witness and a companion were in a canoe checking a trotline across the river after midnight while camping with their fathers. From about 30 feet away behind bank vegetation they heard two very loud, low-frequency vocalizations described as howls, grunts and growls that could be felt in the chest. They abandoned the trotline, paddled back and ran to camp, where both adults had been awakened by the sound. The group left the site the next morning and shortened the trip.
