Mescalero Reservation resident sees silhouetted figure swaying at window, large footprints outside house
The witness was awake in a ground-floor bedroom late at night when she heard heavy breathing and something striking the outside wall. A large dark silhouette appeared at the closed bedroom window, swaying as if trying to see inside, and remained for several minutes despite the TV volume being raised. The next morning she and her daughter found large five-toed footprints in snow by the walkway.
Possible night time sighting by a resident in the Carrizo neighborhood of Mescalero IR
After being awakened around 1 a.m. by barking dogs and loud screaming and hollering sounds that lasted about ten minutes and came closer, the witness looked out a window and saw a tall hairy man-like figure standing at another window looking in. The witness hid, then later saw the figure walking away into the dark carrying something. A sour body odor was noticed during the presence, and deer jerky hanging on the front porch was missing the next morning.
Nighttime screams heard near residences on Mescalero IR
On the night of July 29, 2000, the witness and companions were getting home late when they heard loud screaming or screeching several times over about 10 minutes from behind houses. Dogs in the area that had been howling and barking became quiet after the sounds. No creature was seen during the main event.
Campers hear screams around midnight
Two campers were awakened in their tent around 1 a.m. by distant screams that grew closer as the source moved through the campground. The screams sounded like a woman or baby, with grunts and sniffing pauses between, and the source stopped very close to their tent before moving away and fading. The witnesses stayed inside the tent and never saw the source.

About 20 years ago, the witness and a cousin were walking early in the morning toward the paved road to hitchhike to work. From the treeline across the road they heard frightening noises that seemed to follow them, stopping when they stopped and moving when they ran, with branches snapping audible. With no nearby houses for refuge, they flagged down a passing truck and got in.
