Woman hears late night howl near Alturas
Late at night the witness walked downhill to close a gate with her dog. She heard a strange eerie howl twice from nearby and could not see the source even with a flashlight. Her dog fled to its doghouse and neighborhood dogs remained silent.

Hunter sees footprints near Alturas
The witness was deer hunting alone before sunrise in early October and crossed a clearing to a bank with patches of snow. There they found two partial large human-like footprints in fresh snow, a heel about 8 inches wide and a forefoot with five large toes about six feet away, with recently disturbed shale below the bank. Looking into thick timber about 100 yards below, the witness felt strongly watched and left without seeing, hearing, or smelling anything.
