At the river's edge the witness found 10-11 very large human-like footprints that appeared to come out of the water onto the sand and then go back into the water. Several children playing outside exchanged yelps and whistles with an unseen source that sounded progressively closer, moving from the mountaintop to the woods' edge. When a boy took a hunting dog to the treeline, the dog stayed silent with raised tail and ears, stopped, and refused to advance. An adult also noted a foul smell during the few-minute interaction, after which the sounds stopped.

The witness and four companions were riding ATVs at night when they heard a single loud branch snap followed by dead silence. After moving to a clearing, a large log and then a limestone slab were thrown from an uphill wooded area toward a companion's ATV, barely missing the rider. Loud thumps and breaking branches suggesting something heavy running downhill followed, and the group started their vehicles and left quickly.
