Two companions were jogging home in the dark along a rural road in the early morning hours. They heard a loud, high-pitched scream that held then dropped in pitch and ended in a cackle, first from a distance on the left. About an hour and several miles later they heard a similar but closer scream on the right, felt they were being followed, and hurried the rest of the way home.

The witness, working as a night security guard at a facility, stepped onto a rear deck for a patrol around 3 a.m. and heard an extremely loud female-sounding scream from the wooded hillside about 100 feet away. After sunrise he inspected the nearby trail and found large footprints that he measured. He later found a similar scream online and said it matched what he heard.
