The witness and a companion were camping beside a creek in July 2020. Shortly after nightfall they heard a deep loud growl from about 10 feet inside the treeline and retreated to their vehicle. From the vehicle they then heard three loud tree knocks across the road, branch snapping, and a single additional knock farther away, but saw nothing when shining a flashlight.

Heavy thuds and distinct rock clacking north of Teanaway Butte (Wenatchee NF)
The witness was hiking alone and sitting on a bluff when he heard heavy thudding sounds like footsteps, followed by rock-clacking sounds from brush about 40-50 yards away. He exchanged rock bangs with the unseen source for about 10-15 minutes, with it mimicking the number of bangs he made. He became frightened as it got dark and returned to camp without seeing the source.
