The witness and her husband returned home late at night and both heard a loud terrifying shriek the husband recognized from an earlier unfamiliar sound. The witness reports being awakened by similar screams on several later nights. On one recent night screaming woke their young child and was followed by sounds like rocks or tapping at the windows. No visual encounter is described.

The witness camped alone at a remote alpine lake and saw a black shiny shape on a ridge during a day hike that stayed motionless when called to. That evening while cooking the witness heard a loud screech, then after dark was awakened by extremely loud cracks followed by falling rocks, with a second closer event about 40 minutes later. The witness stayed awake afraid until daylight and left quickly in the morning.

The witness was walking dogs along the Sammamish River in Marymoor Park in the afternoon. From riverside cover about 50 yards away, a loud sustained screeching-howl was heard, clearly audible over traffic noise, startling the witness and dogs. The sound repeated farther upriver and was followed by wood-on-wood knocking, with additional knocks heard later near an old windmill. The witness searched from the bank and bridge but saw no people or animals.

On August 24 at dusk the witness was preparing dinner at a forest-edge campsite when a very loud ascending swooping cry came from the hillside above, followed by several higher shrieks. The witness felt watched during dinner and again when returning to the same spot two nights later, though nothing further was heard. An investigator later visited the area and reported a possible large footprint on the hillside.

The witness and a relative were hiking on a logging road and stopped to rest when they heard a close deep moaning and groaning sound but saw nothing. As they hurried back down the trail with a feeling of being followed, they heard a loud scream behind them, then additional screams from the west and southeast. They returned to their truck and drove home.

The witness was camping overnight at an alpine lake with a dog when a loud high-pitched scream shifting to a low roar was heard for a couple minutes very close to camp. The dog became agitated with raised hackles and the witness was frightened. A young couple camped a few hundred yards away heard the same sound outside their site with snapping branches and pacing, and both parties left the lake the next morning.

Two people hiking toward Franklin Falls heard three or four loud, high-pitched wailing screams echoing off the surrounding mountainsides. Despite extensive outdoor experience in Washington, neither recognized the sound and both were badly unnerved. They turned around, returned to their car and drove away, feeling watched on the way back.

In summer around 1970, the witness and a friend were walking on an old dirt road through dense forest. About 50 feet ahead they heard a loud growling and screaming sound, saw trees shaking with sunlight breaking through the canopy, and felt the ground shake. They ran about half a mile out of the woods and the witness reported it to family that evening.
