Possible knocking heard by husband and wife while camping on their gold claim in Fiddler Gulch

The witness and his wife camped at their claim in Fiddler Gulch over the weekend of June 15, 2008. On several mornings and evenings they heard the same paired cracking sound, like a branch striking a tree, with about two seconds between beats. There was little wind, and the wife suggested expanding or contracting burnt trees as a cause. An investigator later suggested the sounds could have been wood knocks, citing unusually tame deer lingering in camp at the same time.
