For two nights campers are scared by loud vocalizations near Brinnon
Six people were camping together on a ridge between two rivers over Labor Day weekend. Starting early Saturday morning and continuing Saturday night into Sunday morning, they heard series of very loud roar-like vocalizations from a creek bed several hundred yards away. The sounds lasted up to 45 minutes at a time, frightened the group and a dog, and led a camper to ready a pistol. Steep terrain prevented them from investigating for tracks.

The witness was hunting from a tree stand in the late afternoon when he heard very loud, unfamiliar yells from about 150-200 yards away. The yells repeated minutes later from apparently closer. He then watched a small sapling whip violently side to side for about a minute while surrounding grasses did not move similarly. Feeling uneasy as darkness approached, he climbed down and left the woods without ever seeing the source.

On the first night of an October 2004 expedition, four participants walked a stretch of mountain road making wood knocks. They heard deep grunting sounds from the woods, then later heard two loud scream-like vocalizations from different sides of the road, one a few hundred yards away and one within about 50 yards. They stated the screams started as a low moan and rose to a high-pitched screech and were unlike any known local animal sounds.

The witness was smoking in his garage at night when he felt a strong sense of being watched and became fearful and went inside. Shortly after he and his wife were in bed, they heard strange evolving vocalizations from the woods behind the house through an open window, including babbling, crying-like sounds and loud screaming lasting about three minutes. A neighbor's flashlight appeared during the screaming, after which the couple closed the window and the sounds stopped.

Late at night the witness was inside a trailer in the woods when a loud, strange bellowing was heard twice from the woods. The witness stepped outside onto the porch to listen and judged the sound came from 100 to 150 yards away and from a very large, nocturnal animal. After waiting, the witness walked up a nearby dirt road with a flashlight but found nothing.

A witness and a companion were riding horses on a familiar trail when the witness noticed a dark head-like shape to the side. Shortly after, the companion reported a terrible odor near a hedgerow, and then both heard a prolonged loud moaning or wailing sound from behind. They later returned to the locations but found no trace of the shape or odor, and concluded the experiences were connected.
