Husband and wife have a possible encounter in a KOA campground north of Crescent City
A couple camping on an isolated site finished dinner and sat by a campfire when the wife felt watched and fearful. The husband searched with lights and briefly saw movement in the trees about 30 feet away, including what looked like a large dark lower leg. While inside the trailer the wife heard two to three whooping sounds from that wooded area.

The witness, experienced with local wildlife sounds, said it matched nothing previously heard.

Late at night the witness and a companion sat in a parked truck at the end of a river road and heard deep howling and moaning calls from across the river. Fainter similar calls then answered from a different direction, suggesting two sources calling back and forth for about 20 seconds. Dense fog prevented any visual confirmation when the lights were turned on.

Late at night while preparing for bed, the witness heard a very loud and frightening scream lasting about 22 minutes. The sound was compared to a published recording of alleged Bigfoot sounds and was described as seeming to come from two separate animals. No visual contact was reported.

About an hour after starting, they heard a powerful whistle from very close in front of the bay window where they stood. They turned off the lights and waited, but heard nothing further that night.

In 1985 the witness and a companion were remote camping near Patrick Creek when they heard loud primate-like screams and conversational voices from a nearby ridge around 11 p.m. During the night the witness heard heavy tramping and deep breathing just outside the tent while a normally bold dog hid trembling inside. At dawn the witness found the campsite duff heavily scuffed with signs of foot traffic that had not been there the previous evening.

The witness was traveling with family members when their vehicle pulled over and everyone got out. The group noticed many large footprints in sand along a small river leading uphill toward the forest. They then heard a noise from the ridge across the river and briefly saw a large creature moving bipedally over the ridge out of sight, after which they got back in the vehicle and left.

The witness was camping and woke early at dawn to walk to the campground bathroom. They heard an extremely loud echoing yell three times that they felt was not from a man, bear, or wildcat. The witness did not see anything and ran to the bathroom frightened.
