The witness and a companion walked in on a gated logging road for an evening elk hunt and heard something pacing them in the woods. After they stopped at the end of a side road, the witness heard a deep low growl from nearby brush without seeing the source. After waiting until dark for two companions, the pair walked out back-to-back while loud walking and brush sounds paced them for about a half mile to the truck.
