The witness was tent camping near a lake with children who remained asleep. Around 2 a.m. the witness heard a series of angry, howl-like calls with a deep growl undertone lasting about 10 minutes. The witness, familiar with local elk and owl sounds, did not believe those animals made the sound.
Possible vocalizations heard near Bear Canyon Lake
A family camping near Bear Canyon Lake was awakened about 4 AM Sunday by repeated loud, angry howling, screaming and growling estimated about 150 yards away. The calls continued many times and caused coyotes to react, while the family stayed quiet in their tent until daylight. Neighboring campers had left by morning so they could not be interviewed.
Possible vocalizations heard near Snow Bowl on San Francisco Peaks
The witness was hiking at Hart Prairie at midday when about six loud howls approached from upslope, closing from about 250 meters to 75-100 meters and then stopping. The witness waited and then spent about an hour searching the area but saw nothing, heard no movement, and found no sign. Months later the witness concluded a sasquatch was the best possible explanation for the sound.

The witness was playing in the snow with relatives after pulling over on a mountain road near Jacob Lake and the North Rim. The group heard a loud yelling-like sound, then a second loud, clear, deep howl that the witness compared to a reference howl. They left the area quickly without seeing what made the sound.
