Archery hunter describes possible stalking incident outside the town of Headquarters

The witness was bowhunting alone uphill on an old railroad grade when he heard something heavy running ahead on the other side of the ridge. As he continued quietly, he heard a rushing sound overhead, then something struck a tree and the ground behind him, leaving a sapling branch bouncing. He found only a large thick slab of bark on the ground that he thought did not match the local regrowth, then abandoned the hunt feeling watched and uneasy.
