Possible vocalizations heard at a campground near Seaside
The witness and a companion were sleeping in a trailer at an RV park when loud unintelligible calls woke them. They listened for about 25 minutes as the sounds moved rapidly around the park perimeter and at times came very close to their trailer, causing fear. They looked out the windows but saw no person or lights. The sounds stopped after a car arrived with flashlight users, and nothing further was heard that night.
Early morning vocalizations heard on three consecutive days
The witness reported hearing very loud whooping calls coming from the forested opposite ridge of the valley at dawn on three consecutive days in June 2004, with durations getting shorter each day. On the evening of the third day the witness heard a briefer, softer series of the same calls while outside with a friend. The sounds were described as unlike known local wildlife and were never heard again.
Traveler hears "eerie and strange" scream while walking dog near Elsie
The witness stopped at a rest area on Highway 26 late at night to let her dog out while driving to the coast. From the southeast across the highway she heard a sustained eerie scream lasting several seconds from a distance. She could not identify the sound as any known wildlife, and later said it matched a reference scream recording played for her.
Family finds prints and hears vocalizations in forest near Seaside
A large family group in a van with open windows in a dense, mossy forest heard four very long, loud screams described as hair-raising. The mother imitated the sound and received a reply each time. The forest was otherwise completely silent, and the group reported feeling watched.
Large, barefoot, bipedal tracks found by trapper in a densely forested area
An experienced trapper reported finding a line of at least twenty large barefoot bipedal tracks that crossed a road and continued down a slope across a creek. The witness followed them briefly but stopped due to snow, blowdown timber and an approaching windstorm, and the original tracks were not measured or photographed. Weeks later an investigator toured the area with the witness and later found two additional tracks in soil, one estimated at 16 inches long with five toes visible and no claw marks.
