On-going encounters makes rural family cautious
In June 2001 the witness's children discovered large footprints in the field behind the family mobile home and photographed them. About a week later the children heard something running across the hillside while playing at the creek, and the family dog chased it and later returned covered in slime. The children later encountered large rocks rolling toward them on the hill, and the witness heard a loud prolonged growl, with a horrible unidentified odor lingering after the hillside activity.
Witness heard what sounded like "people talking backwards."
The witness and a companion were night fishing at a rural lake when they heard loud, unintelligible voice-like sounds from the woods uphill behind them. Shortly after, a very loud and frightening scream came from just up the hill, terrifying both of them. They left the area immediately and the witness reports not returning.
Hunters hear vocalization in a hollow off Route 2, near Lesage
The witness and two companions were coon hunting at night in a hollow when their dogs became frightened and refused to lead. From 80 to 100 yards ahead they heard an extremely loud 6- to 7-second bellow-roar rising to high-pitched cries, then later a low 5-second growl from about 50 yards and a second shorter high-pitched scream after reaching the ridge top. They never saw the source and returned home without further incident.
