A couple visiting family graves on a rainy afternoon heard low, guttural calls lasting several seconds from the wooded mountainside about 100-150 yards away, repeated in sets of three. The witness mimicked a single call and received a single reply after a short silence while nearby dogs froze and stared toward the sound and poultry fled. The pair drove toward a water tank near the apparent source but heard nothing further, and the dogs later resumed barking.
