Early morning fisherman hears possible howl near Hawley Lake
The witness was fly fishing alone shortly after sunrise along a stream feeding into Hawley Lake. He heard a single very loud, long vocalization that he first called a scream and later described as more of a howl, saying he could feel it in his chest. He did not feel threatened, continued fishing for about another hour, and heard nothing else unusual.
Several early morning vocalizations heard at Wheatfields Lake
The witness and his girlfriend were camped on the east side of Wheatfields Lake with relatives, awake in their tent caring for a child before dawn. They heard loud low roars from near the west side campground repeated 5-6 times for about 10 seconds each, followed by dogs barking, then one more call about 30 minutes later. The witness stayed awake while the others slept, and companions in camp said the next morning they had not heard the calls.

Two companions were archery hunting from a portable blind at a water hole. After sunset while taking the blind down they heard a loud high-pitched scream from about 200 yards to the northwest, repeated twice with the last lasting longer. They did not see the source and decided to leave the area.

Two forestry workers finishing a pre-dawn spotted owl survey heard a loud, deep yell lasting about five seconds from a canyon below them. The sound echoed through the canyon and struck both as too deep and sustained to be human. They saw no animal and later wondered if the source was responding to their imitated owl calls.

In mid-winter 1979, the witness and about five other children were playing outside in snow around midnight during a heavy snowfall on the Navajo reservation in northeastern Arizona. From the darkness they heard a loud terrible screaming mixed with roaring that continued on and off for about 15 minutes. No creature was seen. The witness later concluded the sound must have been a Bigfoot, noting it matched published recordings and local stories of sheep thefts.

The witness was riding in a car at night returning to camp with relatives when she looked out the side window. She saw a large, very furry animal in a break in the trees beside the road and watched it take several steps moving toward the forest. It appeared to be walking upright on two legs and looked larger than a bear, though darkness prevented seeing other features.
