The witness was night-fishing along a river trail when heavy footsteps approached on the wooded hillside. Shining a headlamp toward the sound caused it to stop, and it resumed after the light was removed. The footsteps paralleled the witness back to the parking area without ever emerging, and a search with a brighter light revealed nothing seen or smelled.

The witness pulled over on a roadside near woods, a creek and a lake for night fishing and stepped a short distance into the woods. He heard heavy footsteps moving through leaves toward him that seemed bipedal and too heavy for a dog, and the sounds paused when he paused and then rushed as he reached his truck. After driving away, he saw a large dark upright figure standing in the road behind him in his rearview mirror.
Two friends get spooked by a possible encounter near Norris Lake
Two companions rode an ATV to a clearing by a lake and built a large fire at night. Over the evening they heard deliberate footfalls, pacing and stick breaks in the treeline about sixty yards away and noticed the woods go silent. After the witness knocked on a tree and made a whoop call, they heard knocks in reply and then a long deep guttural growl. They rode toward the sound without seeing anything, then put out the fire and left feeling watched and frightened.
